Smart Tools was founded in 1990.

We’ve consulted mainly for the Silicon Valley community in northern California.

Starting from writing DOS applications on the PC, we now do both software and hardware. On the software side, we write DOS and Windows applications for the PC, and lots of firmware for embedded microprocessors. These controllers include: x86, 8051, z80, z8 Encore, PIC micro (various ones) and 6805.

We can handle hardware directly. Examples on the PC include the VGA controller, hard drive, serial and parallel ports, PCI controller, the ISA bus and PCMCIA cards. Standalone hardware we control include: LCD displays, matrix keypads, stepper motor controllers, and smart cards.

We design and build circuits. We build in quantity through our contract assembly partners.
