What about my existing POS?
You keep using your existing POS. After PreScan is installed, your cashier can choose to scan as they do now, or take scans from the customer.
| Can I use my existing scanner?
Yes. Use your scanner to scan just like you do now. PreScan will not interfere with this.
| Will the customer help scan?
Yes. The customer knows they can get out faster by scanning, so they’ll help.
| Can I not use PreScan after it’s installed?
Yes. At all times, the cashier has the choice to use PreScan or scan items as they normally do. They can lock PreScan so it cannot be used.
| If the customer’s not done when the cashier’s ready, must the cashier wait?
In this case, the cashier first retrieves all the stored codes by pressing ‘Get Barcodes’. Then he finishes by scanning normally. The cashier does not wait and there is no delay.
| Other features
PreScan counts the items. It shows the total number of items scanned.
| Size
5in x 5in x 2in, about 0.5 lb.
| Mechanical Installation
Uses no floor space. Put it anywhere that the customer can see the display. One possibility is a pole mount.
| I.T. Installation
No software is put on your server or POS, so there’s no software testing. PreScan is a hardware add-on to the POS. Our standard model just needs to be plugged in to your PS/2 keyboard port on the POS. Uninstalling is easy, too. Just unplug it.
